EL RIO FOOD PANTRY
In January 2008 Mercy Ministries opened the Food Pantry in El Rio. While we recognize that there are significant nutritional needs elsewhere in Ventura County, Mercy Ministries is singularly committed to serving qualified residents of El Rio and Nyeland Acres only at this time.
The Food Pantry is opened for a few hours each Saturday and we have been providing food for between 35-40 families each week. The Food Pantry draws on several food sources and major food distribution centers in Ventura Country such as MANNA of Conejo Valley and Food Share (Ventura County Regional Food Bank) as well as from some local food outlets. However, we also seek and appreciate private donations. Volunteer support and donations for this huge undertaking are always needed.
Admission to the program is by appointment only based on residency and other certain qualifying criteria. In order to register and to receive food from the Food Pantry, one must call 805.228.4894 and leave a message to start the qualification process. A picture ID showing proof of residency in El Rio or Nyeland Acres is required every time food is received.
